Case Development Skills: Preparing Parties for Conflict Intervention

Description:

This exciting 14-hour, 2-day workshop provides you with an in-depth opportunity to explore the issues and dynamics involved in working with conflicted parties prior to an intervention. You will discuss matters of screening and assessment and will work through a five-stage coaching and assessment model. This workshop is engaging, the role plays really are fun and those who have taken it consistently report that this workshop is a “must-take.”

Understanding Conflict Foundations

Dates: May 8 & 9, 2017

Description:

This highly interactive and educational required core workshop invites you to consider the building blocks that create conflict and those that assist or detract in conflict’s resolution. The workshop includes reflection, conversation, and exercises as conflicts are studied and models for addressing conflicts are considered. Significant time will be given to skill building for effective speaking and effective listening. This foundational workshop is valuable for all individuals; case studies will apply conflict principles to a variety of settings including the workplace, the home and the community.

Understanding Conflict Advanced

Dates: May 10 & 11, 2016
Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Description:

This new workshop, uses the two lenses of conflict drivers and conflict paradoxes, and considers seemingly intractable conflicts and their transformation.  Questions for consideration include the nature of intractability, de-escalation strategies, transforming intractable conflicts and engaging emotions.  This required core workshop builds on Understanding Conflict: Foundations.  It is highly interactive, insightful, engaging and critical for all those who wish to deeply understand the nature of conflict and its transformation.

This workshop has been added to the program to address evaluations that two days for the previous Understanding Conflict I workshop was insufficient time to cover all the topics.  For those that have previously taken UCI this is new content.

Completion of Understanding Conflict: Foundations  (Understanding Conflict I) strongly recommended
